Kristen Carriker is the Associate Director of Communications for The Opportunity Institute. Most recently, Kristen was digital media manager for Next Generation, where she oversaw digital media strategy for the organization's Children & Families and Energy & Climate programs and their national initiatives, Too Small to Fail and The Risky Business Project. Prior to joining Next Generation, Kristen helped launch Kaiser Health News as a digital producer and associate editor for the nonprofit health news service, a program of the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF). Previously, she was a video and web producer for Health08.org, a KFF website that covered health policy issues during the 2008 election. She also managed communications and marketing for the online consumer health start-up HealthCentral and worked on the health care team at the communications agency Ketchum. She is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
